Freelance role alert.
I'm very excited to finally be looking for an SEO specialist at Taylor Scher Consulting, LLC.
We've been growing like crazy over these past few months, and I'm now at the point where our team is really starting to grow. This includes an SEO specialist who will be working alongside me on executing AEO/SEO strategies that drive revenue for our B2B SaaS clients. And you'll have full access to a stellar content team with a high standard for quality.
Who we're looking for: someone with 2-5 years of B2B SaaS SEO experience. I'm specifically after early-to-mid level talent I can develop, so if you're currently a senior-level SEO, this role probably isn't for you. This will likely turn into a full-time role as we continue to grow.
If you've been embedded in content systems, worked on lower-funnel stuff like comparison pages and BoFu content, and have some understanding of NLP, you should apply.
Open to anyone anywhere in the world. Americas is preferred for the timezone overlap, but please don't let that stop you from applying.
P.S. Please don't DM or email me about the role. It will immediately disqualify you.

Hiring: Freelance SEO Specialist (B2B SaaS)
Taylor Scher Consulting | Remote | Contract
The Basics
- I'm looking for one freelance SEO specialist with 2–5 years of B2B SaaS experience to work across my client base.
- Ideally someone who has some experience, but isn’t a senior-level SEO. I’d like to treat this role as a way to train someone up on the right way to do AEO/SEO.
- You'd work directly with me and Chris Rausch, our Content Manager. We’re a small but growing team. You’d essentially be taking on the tactical and implementation SEO work that I currently manage.
- Looking to get someone brought on ASAP.
- Remote, wherever you are. I'm in Denver (Mountain Time) so some overlap between 9-5 MST is preferred. Chris is in Florida (EST) and closer to 12 PM EST to 2 AM EST if you can’t fit in my schedule.
- This role can be done anywhere in the world, but preferably looking for talent based in the Americas. Please do not let that prevent you from applying, though!
- While this is a freelance role to start, it will most likely turn into a full-time hire as the business continues to grow.
What I’m looking for
Required
-
2–5 years of hands-on SEO work for B2B SaaS, ideally agency-side or in-house.
- You've worked on B2B SaaS specifically. Ecommerce and local SEO experience is fine to have, but I’m looking for someone who understands how unique the B2B SaaS buyer's journey is and how content needs to reflect that.
- You’ve been embedded in content workflows before. Handling the research, putting together detailed content briefs, coordinating with writers, and reviewing final content outputs
- You’ll learn about our content process, but I do not believe in using content optimization tools for SEO. The best content for SEO, in my opinion, is content that feels like it wasn’t written for SEO.
- Have experience working with lower-funnel content such as competitor comparisons, BoFu category content, product/solution/industry pages, and sales enablement.
- Fine being client-facing occasionally
- I’ll most likely be handling the workshops and reporting sessions, but I may occasionally ask to rope you in for a call.
- You have experience with sites running on Webflow, WordPress, and/or HubSpot.
- Occasionally, we’ll have to work with either a headless site or even a custom-coded site, so experience here is a bonus point as well.
- Have experience with tools like GSC, GA4, Scrunch, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, and Claude Code
- Bonus points if you have any cool SEO Claude Code projects you can show off.
- Strong written and spoken English. A lot of this role is writing detailed briefs a writer can execute and reviewing their outputs from a quality lens
Bonus points
- You’re not afraid to challenge the status quo
- Since we’re still growing in this aspect, a lot of our systems deserve to be challenged. We’re not perfect, and we know that, but we’d love to have someone who’s not afraid to recommend ways we can incrementally improve what we do.
- You've interviewed subject matter experts for content creation and gotten usable quotes out of a busy person who doesn't want to be on the call.
- MAJOR BONUS POINT: You have a general understanding of how search engines and LLMs work. Not down to the exact detail, but understanding:
- Technical SEO (discovery, crawling, indexing, load speed, etc.)
- NLP in content (entities, entity salience, information gain, category relevance, content comprehensiveness)
- LLMs (RAG vs training data, query fan outs, how URLs get cited, and how brands get mentioned)
- You use AI for some things but not for everything.
- I can tell who has brain rot from using too much AI. It is genuinely a thing, unfortunately.
The Role
Day to day, this is what I expect the role to look like:
- Building the initial content brief for the topics laid out in each client’s roadmap.
- Reviewing content outputs from our editors and providing feedback on how it can be made to be more comprehensive and helpful for readers
- Working alongside Chris and our editors to ensure content is continually moving at each stage
- This will likely include content publishing, unless a designated dev is assigned to that client.
- Using GSC/GA4/Ahrefs to monitor performance of our client’s content and flagging quick win opportunities that should be targeted
- While I’ll be putting together the majority of the content roadmap, I’d love for you to challenge me on topics you think should be added to the calendar or prioritized above others.
- Handling outreach for brand mentions on competitor and third-party websites
- Performing occasional content audits to identify pages that should be deleted, merged, or updated
How We Work
A few things about the company that are worth knowing before you apply:
- I highly recommend you read this page that highlights how the team views content: ‣
- Anyone we hire should understand this vision and have an eye for the content we’re looking for
- We are growing fast and expect to be challenged on our systems. You’ll have our full trust in recommending ways we could be doing things better. We’re always open to change and testing/experimenting
- We live by the 80/20 rule. Everything we do is always focused around high impact. Every tactic needs to work towards a desired outcome
- Revenue is always the focus for our clients. CRO, sales enablement, case studies, landing page build-outs. Our primary focus will always be on the high-impact tactics that influence a buyer’s behavior on a site.
This Probably Isn't a Fit If…
Just so you don’t waste your time applying, here are a few of the disqualifiers for this role:
- You're currently a Director/Head of SEO/Consultant and are looking for a senior-level position.
- This will likely be offered eventually, but for right now, I’m looking for early-level talent that I can develop.
- You’re just interested in being a contracted freelancer
- We’re growing and learning every day, and so want someone who’s going to integrate into the work and look for ways to improve things, not just wait to be told what to do
- You're brand new to SEO and looking for a place to learn the fundamentals.
- As much as I’d love to take someone on like this, I just don’t have the bandwidth right now to give someone my full attention. As we grow, this may change.
- You’re only a link builder/outreach person.
- I’m sorry, but I have too many link builders in my inbox, and I’m sure this role will get spammed with them. But I’m looking more so for talent with experience on the content/on-page side of things
- You don’t like dogs
- I mean, one of your bosses will be a dog.
Application Process
-
Fill out the questionnaire. Takes about 10 minutes: [click apply]
-
Quick call with me if it looks like a fit. Casual, mostly just a vibe check and to see how you think.
- I may ask for a reference (TBD)
About Taylor Scher Consulting
I'm a B2B SaaS SEO consultant based in Denver. I run a small consultancy focused on SEO and AEO for SaaS companies, working with clients in hospitality tech, HR tech, supply chain, and developer marketplaces. Six years in SEO, three of them agency-side and three running my own company. While I’ve traditionally stuck with consulting and fractional work, I see a greater need for more vendors who can reliably do the work while organizing projects with internal client teams. So the consultancy is transitioning into more of a boutique agency (and yes, the name soon will become redundant 👀)
How we approach AEO/SEO boils down to this: We help you properly define your marketing positioning/differentiation in your niche, and we help you double down on that with revenue-driven content and an outreach approach that further cements you in that category.
The team right now is me, Chris on content management, and a growing team of high-quality writers on the editorial side.
Ani, my Australian Shepherd, holds the title of Chief Bark Officer and contributes by occasionally stealing me away from work for attention.

A Few Notes
- Please don't DM me on LinkedIn about this. Fill out the form. Chris and I will read all of them
- I actually do read all the jokes from the form, and it does help you stand out more if it’s a genuinely good joke
- And I can also tell when it’s an AI joke too, which will give you negative brownie points
- And no, saying you’ll tell me in-person on a meeting won’t help
