Freelance Newsletter Writer

Mirror Indy is looking for a part-time freelance writer, based in central Indiana, to write our fast-growing newsletter, In the Mirror. In the Mirror is published Monday through Friday.

The ideal candidate will have a journalism background, demonstrated writing and basic copy-editing skills, a compelling writing voice and a strong familiarity with Indianapolis.

What you’ll do:

• Write each section of the newsletter (including subject lines) using a consistent, approachable “In the Mirror” voice. 
• Copy-edit the contributions of other reporters and editors. 
• Meet daily production deadlines. Work flexible hours as needed, depending on special projects or daily news. 
• Work with Mirror Indy editors and the Free Press Indiana audience development director to grow and engage our newsletter audience and use analytics to recommend or test different approaches. 
• Produce the daily newsletter when the web producer is off or on vacation.

The writer will spend 1-2 hours daily, Monday through Friday, creating the newsletter, and will be paid $30-$35 an hour. They will also produce the newsletter when the web producer is on vacation.
