Freelance Game Writer

We are looking to connect with a freelance Narrative Designer / Game Writer for an upcoming story-led video game project.

RO Pictures is currently developing a supernatural FMV narrative game set within the world of Tales from Davidstown, our growing horror and fantasy IP.

We are looking for an individual who can help shape the narrative structure and write the game alongside our existing creative team.

The project will be built around player choices, relationships and different outcomes.
This is not a traditional linear screenwriting role. We are particularly interested in hearing from writers who understand how interactive stories work in practice.

You should be comfortable with:
Writing branching or reactive narratives
Mapping player choices and later consequences
Working with variables, flags and relationship changes
Creating routes that diverge and reconnect
Writing natural, character-led dialogue
Producing clear documents that can be shared with a game development team
Working within an existing story world and established canon
Experience with FMV, interactive fiction, Unity, Ink, Twine or similar narrative tools would be useful, but is not essential.

The project blends supernatural horror, mystery and character-led storytelling. It is currently in development following a UK Games Fund-backed prototype.

At this stage, we are looking to connect with potential freelance collaborators and find the right individual for the project.
