Think 2,500-3,000-word deeply reported, ambitious stories for Apple News or our site.
These can be straight health and wellness ideas (we just ran a great one on the rise of “DIY” health on Apple News), trend pieces, profiles, investigations, etc. Selfishly, I’ve yet to edit a feature on sports, exercise culture, or the intersection of health and beauty, so anything in that realm would be extra interesting to me this go-around… 👀
Please keep our audience in mind before you pitch. Our reader is a bit older, so ideas about college might not make sense for us. She also already knows that strength training is good for her, so I’m looking for ideas beyond the basics. Lastly, I have a bit of GLP-1 fatigue, so any ideas in that space should be really next-level and compelling.
I’m also looking for pitches where there’s enough reporting available to sustain the proposed HED and story. The best pitches are ones where the reporting can really support the promise of the headline. I’d love to avoid making major pivots after assigning a story because the reporting ultimately doesn't support the original idea.
