The Role

We're growing, and the words we put into the world need to keep up. We're looking for a freelance copywriter who cares about the craft and understands what's at stake: every headline, email, and landing page we publish reaches a real person trying to build something meaningful.

This isn't a one-off project. The right person grows with us β€” a writer our Director of Content Marketing can trust to move fast, stay grounded in our voice, and never lose sight of who we're writing for.

Our ideal candidate will be strong in the following areas:

  • Can move from a punchy 6-word headline to a clear 500-word landing page without losing voice or momentum
  • Can take a brief (or sometimes a Slack message) and produce a solid first draft
  • Picks up on tone and voice quickly, and protects it
  • Has worked on SaaS, fintech, or consumer apps and understands how to write for real people, not procurement committees
  • Collaborates easily with designers, PMs, and marketers, and gives and receives feedback gracefully

What You’ll Own

Your words will show up everywhere β€” in product, in inboxes, in ads, and in the moments that make someone feel like ZenBusiness actually gets them.

1. Product & UI Copy

  • Write and refine product copy, including UI strings, onboarding flows, and feature descriptions
  • Ensure clarity, consistency, and brand voice are maintained across in-product messaging

2. Campaign & Web Copy

  • Write landing pages for campaigns and product launches, working alongside design and development
  • Produce ad copy for paid social, display, and search β€” short-form, punchy, conversion-aware
  • Support homepage and marketing site copy updates as needed

3. Email & Lifecycle Copy

  • Write copy for lifecycle email journeys, campaign sends, and transactional messages
  • Adapt messaging and tone for different audience segments and stages

4. Scripts & Brand Copy

  • Write scripts for explainer videos, product demos, and short-form video content
  • Support tagline, headline, and positioning work as needed in partnership with brand leadership

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of copywriting experience in consumer or B2C marketing, ideally in product or platform-driven businesses
  • Portfolio demonstrating range β€” web, email, product, and short-form ad copy
  • Strong editorial judgment and a sharp brand voice sensitivity
  • Experience working on SaaS, fintech, app, or similar product-driven brands
  • Ability to work independently β€” you ask the right questions upfront and move
  • Experience collaborating with design, product, and marketing teams in fast-paced environments

Bonus Points If You Have

  • Familiarity with AI-assisted writing workflows
  • Experience writing for small business or entrepreneurial audiences
  • Comfort with legal- or compliance-adjacent messaging
  • Background in brand voice development or contributing to brand standards
  • Experience writing for both human readers and LLM/SEO indexing
