Refundee is entering an important transition. After four years of strong performance-led growth, customer acquisition costs have increased sharply and the business now needs senior leadership to reset the growth system, rebuild trust signals, and expand channels beyond paid.We are looking for a hands-on Fractional CMO who can operate as their Chief Growth Officer working closely with the founders and the Head of Growth to build and execute a rounded growth strategy over the next 4–6 months, with the potential to extend depending on progress.This is not a pure coaching or advisory role. We’re looking for someone who can think at CMO level and deliver at operator level, working 1–2 days per week.
Analyse what’s driving the spike in CAC and where the funnel is losing trust or efficiency.Identify the short-term fixes and the long-term structural changes needed.Reset the company’s growth plan with clear priorities for the next 6–12 months.
Define a simple, compelling brand story that reduces friction across every customer touchpoint.Strengthen trust signals, proposition clarity, and customer confidence in a sensitive, regulated category.Ensure this narrative connects the product, website, PR, content, and performance channels.
Review and optimise key landing pages, user flows, and claims journeys.Lead or guide CRO experiments that meaningfully improve application and submission rates.
Build or overhaul affiliate programmes, expert content, SEO, partnerships, and distribution channels.Shape the long-term channel mix so Refundee is not reliant on ever-increasing paid spend.
Work as a partner to the internal HoG, offering senior direction, creative leadership, and high-quality feedback.Help them build the systems, frameworks, and judgement required to run a modern growth engine.This is a builder’s role, not a sideline advisor position.
Senior-level experience in growth, marketing, or brand leadership.You’ve owned and delivered growth strategies in regulated or trust-sensitive categories(Financial Services, Legal Services, Insurance, Claims, etc).You’ve improved performance in long-consideration or high-friction customer journeys.You can operate hands-on 1–2 days a week and move quickly with limited ceremony.You’re confident switching between brand strategy, acquisition, CRO, and creative guidance.You are comfortable diagnosing messy problems and turning them into clear, actionable plans.
