Feature Writer

The Daily Star's Slow Reads Section is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Feature Writer to join the team. The ideal candidate should possess strong writing and editing skills, a passion for long-form storytelling, and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Research, plan, and produce high-quality long-form content for Slow Reads.
- Write, edit, and refine articles in line with The Daily Star's editorial standards.
- Conduct interviews and gather information from relevant sources when required.
- Proofread and fact-check content to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency before publication.
- Manage and publish content on The Daily Star website, ensuring the timely and accurate delivery of online content. 
- Coordinate with subject-matter experts and contributors to solicit high-quality articles.
- Produce high-quality visuals for digital platforms and manage Slow Reads’ social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X.
- Collaborate with editorial, graphics, and production teams to enhance content presentation.
- Ensure all print & digital content meets quality and production standards.
Educational Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences (including History, Economics, International Relations, Public Administration, and Mass Communication and Journalism), English, or a related discipline from a recognised university.
- Candidates with exceptional writing portfolios may be considered regardless of academic background.
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum two years of experience in content writing, journalism, editorial work, publishing, or a related field.
- Experience in feature writing, magazine publishing, long-form storytelling, or digital media will be considered an advantage.
Required Skills:
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Strong research and interviewing capabilities.
- Sound understanding of editorial processes and content development.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively under deadlines.
- Familiarity with digital publishing platforms and content management systems.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
