SimpleStudy is like Duolingo for exams. We help highschool students prepare for their final exams around the world. We are a single platform for curriculum-specific exam prep. We offer students quizzes, revision notes, past papers, timed questions, flashcards, progression, community features and more.
SimpleStudy began as a bootstrapped dream from two best friends in rural Ireland. After quitting our jobs and a year of nonstop hustling, sleeping on the floor, and staring into the abyss, we hit 17,000 users and $5,000 in MRR, and in August 2023, we got into an Accelerator.
Since then, we've helped over 300,000 students across 5 exam systems, completing over 3 million quizzes. SimpleStudy is going to be bigger than Duo-lingo. We hit $1M ARR in under 12 from our first capital, we're incredible capital efficient, and quadrupled our valuation from pre-seed -> seed.
Ideal Candidate
This role is ideally suited for an expert email & push marketer. A brilliant copy writer. Someone data-driven with deep expertise in lifecycle marketing, email & push customer communications, and extensive hands-on experience with Customer.io. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of writing, designing, implementing, and optimizing multi-channel communication strategies through the Customer.io platform that drive measurable business outcomes. They should excel at writing, data analysis, experimentation, and creating personalized customer journeys that enhance engagement, retention, and growth.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive lifecycle marketing strategy across all customer touchpoints, with a focus on email and push notifications using Customer.io
- Leverage advanced Customer.io features including segments, workflows, campaigns, and action-based triggers to create sophisticated customer journeys
- Own the end-to-end communication journey from acquisition through retention, conversion, re-engagement, and growth
- Design, implement, and analyze A/B tests and marketing experiments within Customer.io to continuously optimize campaign performance
- Create data-driven segmentation strategies in Customer.io to deliver highly targeted and personalized communications to different audience subsets
- Configure and optimize Customer.io data models, attributes, and event tracking to ensure accurate targeting and segmentation
- Adapt marketing communications for different regions and customer segments, ensuring cultural relevance and maximum effectiveness
- Develop compelling copy and messaging that resonates with various audience segments and drives desired actions
- Build and optimize customer journeys aimed at specific outcomes including product usage, conversion, re-engagement, churn reduction, upselling, and viral sharing
- Establish comprehensive metrics and KPIs for each campaign type and regularly report on performance using Customer.io analytics
- Analyze customer behavior data to identify opportunities for new marketing initiatives and communication strategies
- Collaborate with product, analytics, and design teams to ensure cohesive customer experiences across all touchpoints
- Stay current with new Customer.io features and capabilities to maximize platform utilization
- Develop a testing roadmap that prioritizes experiments based on potential business impact
- Create documentation of successful campaign approaches, learnings from experiments, and best practices
What We Are Looking For
- 3+ years of experience in lifecycle marketing or communications marketing roles with at least 2 years of hands-on experience with Customer.io
- Native english speaker is required.
- Excellent copywriting skills with the ability to craft compelling messages across email and push.
- Orientated towards being a communications & messaging marketer, interested in owning and leading this part of our marketing stack.
- Experience with mobile app marketing and push notification strategies
- Advanced expertise in Customer.io's platform capabilities, including segments, workflows, liquid templating, API integrations, and analytics
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to extract meaningful insights from complex customer data
- Proven track record of designing, executing, and analyzing A/B tests and marketing experiments within Customer.io
- Experience setting up and managing complex automation workflows and triggers in Customer.io
- Strong understanding of Customer.io's data structure and how to optimize it for marketing campaigns
- Experience building sophisticated segmentation models and personalization strategies
- Deep understanding of key marketing metrics and how they relate to business outcomes
- Experience adapting marketing strategies for different regions, cultures, and audience segments
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple campaigns simultaneously
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across functional teams
- Creative problem-solver with a growth mindset and commitment to continuous improvement
