I’m looking for an editor/proofer to join me on some ongoing writing projects at Amenable, roughly 2-5 hours/week.
At minimum, I need someone with an excellent grasp of English grammar and a sharp eye for proofreading. But ideally, I’d love to find more of a collaborative editor who can read a piece and occasionally say, “this line made me laugh,” or “this is hot garbage,” or “I think this section could be stronger if we structured it differently.”
A few things that matter to me:
• You understand grammar and usage (rather than relying primarily on Grammarly :)
• You have a good instinct for clean, warm, human writing.
• You can read from the perspective of an actual reader and flag places that are confusing, awkward, repetitive, or particularly effective.
• You’re comfortable giving feedback and collaborating when I ask for it, even if your default role is simply proofreading.
• You don’t need to be a professional writer! I’m much more interested in editorial judgment/taste than in your resume.
If this sounds like you, or if someone comes to mind, please DM me so we can chat further!
