CALL FOR QUOTATIONS: PROFESSIONAL EDITING SERVICES

We are seeking quotations from suitably qualified and experienced professional editors for the editing of a report of approximately 12,660 words.

The assignment requires a high standard of academic and technical editing, with preference given to individuals or service providers with experience in research publications, academic writing, and African language scholarship.

1. SCOPE OF WORK

The successful editor will be required to undertake:

Copyediting:

• Ensuring clarity, consistency, grammar, style, tone, and language quality.

Proofreading:

• Correction of spelling, punctuation, syntax, and typographical errors.

Reference Checking and Formatting:

• Verification of reference consistency, citation accuracy, and formatting compliance.

Technical Editing:

• Improving structure, terminology, coherence, and technical accuracy of the document.

Formatting:

• Ensuring professional presentation and consistency of layout and document styling.

2. DESIRED EXPERIENCE & EXPERTISE

Preference will be given to editors with demonstrated experience in:

a. Academic research editing and scholarly publications

b. Research reports, academic papers and/or journal articles

c. Knowledge of African languages, multilingual research, language policy, linguistics, or related fields

d. Familiarity with academic referencing conventions and research standards

e. Membership of a recognised professional editors’ association, council, or accredited professional body (please indicate membership status and accreditation details)

a. Brief professional profile / CV (1 page with relevant editing experience and examples of similar work undertaken).

b. Proof of membership/accreditation with a recognised professional editing council, association, or body.

c. Proposed fee quotation for the assignment.
