What would you do in this role?

The Editor is responsible for researching, pitching, writing, editing, and publishing high-quality lifestyle content that reflects The Everygirl’s voice and editorial standards. Working closely with editorial leadership, this role develops engaging, service-driven stories across topics such as career, wellness, home, relationships, finance, beauty, fashion, travel, and personal growth. The Editor combines strong writing and editing skills with a strategic understanding of audience growth, creating content that performs across search, social, and commerce channels. This role will also support seasonal and holiday editorial initiatives, including gift guides, entertaining content, decorating inspiration, and year-end features.

Responsibilities

  • Pitch, write, edit, and publish engaging, high-quality content across a variety of lifestyle topics.
  • Collaborate with the Editor-in-Chief and Senior Managing Editor to identify content opportunities, editorial priorities, and growth strategies.
  • Optimize articles for SEO using keyword research and best practices while maintaining a compelling, conversational voice.
  • Edit and refine content to ensure accuracy, clarity, consistency, and adherence to The Everygirl’s editorial standards and style guide.
  • Edit content and provide constructive feedback to writers, coaching them on writing style, formatting, and adherence to The Everygirl’s editorial standards and directives from the Editor-in-Chief.
  • Provide headline copywriting or complete articles as needed, including sourcing pull-quotes and linking products for shopping posts.
  • Research trending topics and stories.
  • Collaborate with the Art Team to generate ideas and oversee the creation of graphics for articles.
  • Coordinate with the Social Media Team for article promotion.
  • Source and link relevant, on-brand products for shopping posts.
  • Contribute to the overall video content creation process as needed, including creating and delivering original video assets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, media, or a related field, or a demonstration of equivalent expertise through relevant work experience for positions in these fields.
  • 3+ years of experience in media or related fields.
  • Ability to communicate and strategize effectively with the team while working remotely.
  • A deep understanding of The Everygirl’s brand and content coverage.
  • Proficiency in AP Style and a strong grasp of grammar, with the ability to adhere to The Everygirl Media Group Style Guide.
  • Excellent communication skills for delivering constructive feedback.
  • Strong organizational abilities, enabling efficient management of multiple projects concurrently.
  • Knowledge of SEO best practices and familiarity with various social media platforms.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to think critically and problem-solve independently.
  • Experience working in digital media, either as a writer, editor, or content creator.
  • A genuine passion for crafting top-quality content that captivates and informs the audience.

Compensation

Range: $60,000–$70,000 annualized salary ($30,000–$35,000 total estimated earnings over the six-month assignment), paid bi-weekly.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in writing and editing.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace and Slack.
  • Proficiency in Asana or other similar project management platforms.
  • Proficiency in WordPress or other similar content management platforms.
  • Proficiency in Google Analytics.
  • Understanding of analytics tools to track content performance.
