This is a remote, long-term 1099 contractor role.Hours will fluctuate between 60-100 hours per month, and the pay is $75-$90 per hour based on experience. The role includes a 3-month trial period to ensure a strong fit before extending the contract.

We specialize in developing compelling narratives, immersive experiences, and partnership-driven campaigns for entertainment and social impact brands and agencies alike. ABCS seeks a dynamic Freelance Senior Creative Strategist to drive innovative, impactful campaigns for entertainment and social impact brands. Youโ€™ll collaborate with clients and internal teams to craft bold strategies that connect brands with culture, unlocking revenue through creativity. Passionate about insights, storytelling, and emerging channels, youโ€™ll help shape the studioโ€™s future while pushing creative boundaries. location: Fully Remote (bi-annual and annual in-person dinners); NYC or LA is preferred

Compensation: $75-90/hr

Responsibilities / What Youโ€™ll Be Doing:

  • Creative Storytelling: Drive the development of innovative, strategic concepts from ideation to execution across multiple platforms. Lead creative-driven discussions with clients and agencies to uncover new opportunities and business objectives. Facilitate brainstorming sessions that balance creativity with strategic and fiscal responsibility.
  • Strategic Vision: Translate business goals into compelling creative solutions aligned with client objectives and ABCSโ€™s vision. Support stakeholders in crafting content strategies informed by brand objectives, KPIs, audience insights, cultural trends, and industry best practices.
  • Project Oversight: Manage multiple projects, ensuring high-quality creative outputs are delivered on time. Oversee all stages of the creative process, from concept to production.
  • Client Engagement: Serve as a strategic creative partner for clients, confidently presenting ideas and building strong relationships to drive long-term collaboration.
  • Studio Innovation: Develop internal marketing and experiential campaigns that align business objectives with compelling creative strategies.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Mentor and guide a cross-functional creative team, fostering a collaborative environment that drives innovation and growth. Oversee the development and execution of creative deliverables, ensuring they meet strategic marketing goals.
  • Brand Stewardship + Thought Leadership: Maintain and evolve ABCSโ€™s brand identity, ensuring consistency in tone, style, and messaging across all creative work. Leverage your expertise, research, and network, as well as various studio resources, to proactively recommend new strategic creative directions that could unlock growth opportunities.
  • Innovation & Trends: Stay ahead of industry trends, emerging technologies, and cultural shifts to keep creative strategies cutting-edge. Provide thought leadership on the future of content marketing, AI-driven media, performance marketing, and communication planning.

Qualifications / About You:

  • 8-10+ years of experience in a client-facing creative or marketing role, ideally within an agency, brand, or start-up environment. 
  • Proven expertise in creative strategy, preferably in entertainment, media, or culture-driven industries.
  • Deep understanding of digital media, audiences, and emerging entertainment trends.
  • Exceptional storytelling abilities, with strong verbal and written communication skills to articulate creative ideas and strategic recommendations.
  • Experience developing integrated campaigns across events, digital, social, paid media, mobile, offline, and print.
  • Analytical mindset, with the ability to interpret qualitative and quantitative research and media data to inform insights, optimizations, and opportunities.
  • Proficiency in creative development tools and key digital/social platforms.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing successful projects across digital, print, experiential/events, film, and/or social media.
  • Strategic thinker who can balance creativity with business objectives and marketing goals.
  • Passion for storytelling, design, and cultural innovation, with a pulse on industry trends and cultural moments.
  • Ability to thrive and stay organized in fast-paced, complex environments with multiple projects and stakeholders.
  • Proven experience crafting compelling narratives and ad copy that drive engagement and conversions.
  • Leadership experience, including managing junior team members or leading small creative/design teams.
  • Advanced proficiency in Google Sheets/Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting.

Not a Must, But A huge PLUS: 

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Graphic Design, Fine Arts, or a related field; a Masterโ€™s degree is a plus.
  • Experience or strong interest in film/long-form content or developing original, owned content.
  • Experience working directly with creative start-ups.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and other relevant design and project management tools to effectively lead and support designers i.e. Figma, Canva.
  • Passion for staying ahead of emerging content trends.
