The Corporate Communications team is looking for a Corporate Communications Manager to shape and amplify stories that drive positive perception of GitHub and its products. You'll work cross-functionally to craft compelling narratives and generate strong media coverage that reinforces GitHub's position as the best place for developers to build in the age of AI.

Responsibilities

Storytelling & Messaging

  • Develop compelling stories around GitHub's products and corporate milestones, using data, customer insights, and market trends to shape narratives.
  • Determine the right format and channel for each story based on target audience(s).
  • Identify and develop thought leadership opportunities for GitHub executives across traditional and emerging channels.

Communication Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and execute communications strategies that drive awareness, adoption, and positive perception of GitHub.
  • Create content and collateral (including briefing documents, media pitches, talking points, and press materials) for communications initiatives and events.
  • Media train spokespeople and staff press briefings.
  • Support issues management and incident response efforts.
  • Measure impact of communications initiatives and leverage data-driven insights to iterate and improve.
  • Embed diversity, inclusion, and belonging (DI&B) throughout strategy and execution.

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Marketing, Developer Relations, and other teams to support storytelling that drives customer adoption.
  • Collaborate with Microsoft colleagues and support broader communications strategies around Microsoft's full suite of developer tools.

Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in internal communications, executive communications, public relations (in-house or agency), or related field, OR Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or related field AND 3+ years experience, OR Master's Degree AND 1+ year(s) experience, OR equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years track record of securing impactful media coverage in top-tier and trade outlets.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7+ years experience in internal communications, executive communications, public relations (in-house or agency), or related field, OR Bachelor's Degree AND 5+ years experience, OR Master's Degree AND 3+ years experience, OR Doctorate AND 1+ year(s) experience, OR equivalent experience.
  • Background in the software development or technology industry, with experience in both in-house and agency communications roles.
  • Familiarity with the developer ecosystem, open source, AI, or DevOps, including experience using AI to improve workflow efficiency.

Compensation Range
The base salary range for this job is USD $85,000.00 - USD $225,400.00 /Yr.

These pay ranges are intended to cover roles based across the United States. An individual's base pay depends on various factors including geographical location and review of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant. At GitHub certain roles are eligible for benefits and additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock.
