It's not often I get to post about an opportunity to bring people into our little Communications team, so this feels exciting🌿

We are looking for a talented Copywriter to help bring our work to life.

Our forests are full of powerful stories. Stories about climate resilience, wildlife recovery, community, adventure, trees, wellbeing. Stories about the people who care for these places, and the millions who visit them every year. Surely you've heard me wax lyrical about forests a thousand times over?

We’re looking for someone who can help us tell our stories brilliantly. Someone who loves shaping words. Who can take complex ideas and make them clear. Who understands that good copy doesn’t just inform — it connects.

There’s so much important work happening across our nation’s forests right now, and this role will play a big part in how we share that.

If this sounds like a bit of you, you can find out more here 🌳

We are Forestry England.

We live and breathe forests.

Job title – Copywriter

Salary - ÂŁ33,854 pro rata

Contract type – Permanent

Hours – 24 hours per week

Vacancy closes - 23:58 on 8th March 2026

Join us. We're foresters, professionals and experts. We are a passionate team who love to share our enthusiasm and want to make a positive difference for you and the environment.

Together, we’re using our scale and expertise to grow the nation’s forests for everyone. We’re already adapting our landscapes for tomorrow, and getting stuff done today, like creating amazing places and experiences for you to enjoy. We're providing vital homes for wildlife, making our air cleaner to breathe and producing sustainable timber.

What you’ll do…

We are looking for a passionate, engaging and inquisitive person to tell the story of the work that Forestry England does every day.

You're more than a wordsmith; you're a storyteller with purpose. You can take complex forestry science, conservation principles, or biodiversity data and transform them into content that captivates and inspires. You instinctively know how to find the narrative hook in everything from ancient woodland management to community forest projects.

You will be responsible for producing high-quality, accessible content for a generalist audience, to support our mission to connect more people to the nation’s forests.

As a creative and engaging content writer you will be equally happy working with other content creators to ensure the copy is consistent and engaging across all communications channels.

You’ll help raise the profile of our often-unsung areas of the business, partnering with colleagues across the organisation to source, develop and publish accurate, timely content.

Where you’ll work…

As the post will involve dealing with contacts across Forestry England, travel with stays away from home may therefore be an occasional requirement of this post.

The role is 24 hours per week, with flexibility to work across seven days when needed.

While the role supports flexible and remote working, we would anticipate the role spending roughly a day per month in our Bristol head office to connect with the team. Some wider travel across Forestry England may occasionally be required for specific projects or campaigns.
