Contract Writer

Hello, network!

My team is looking to bring on a contract/freelance technical writer to help support content development for a client in the 💡 lighting industry💡.

Unfortunately, this isn't one of those situations where you can become an expert on the job. We’re after someone with a strong working knowledge of lighting, electrical products, and technical specs who can translate that into clear, useful content. Think less "writer who wired their house" and more "electrician who writes."

Some stuff you might work on:

• Product category pages and buying guides
• Technical explainers (LED, ballast compatibility, color temperature, etc.)
• SEO-driven content that still prioritizes clarity and accuracy
• Supporting content for commercial and residential lighting audiences

What we’re looking for:

• Experience writing in lighting, electrical, or closely related industries
• Ability to interpret and explain specs, certifications, and applications
• Strong grasp of SEO fundamentals (without sacrificing readability)
• Comfortable working with product data, manufacturers, and technical nuance
• If you’ve got the chops and have written for lighting brands, distributors, or electrical suppliers, that’s a bonus.
