These tend to be big, complex projects, with lots of stakeholders and moving pieces. There's lots to untangle and problem solve around, and as an added bonus, you get to work with my team.

About the Position

OHO is searching for an experienced content manager to be the primary point of contact for large-scale web content projects, focused on improving SEO, accessibility, readability and overall content quality and brand alignment. As a natural leader, you will thrive in our fast-paced environment and excel at collaborating with clients and our internal team of strategists, researchers, writers, and editors. You will set clear expectations with clients regarding their role, responsibilities, and required responsiveness, and maintain open lines of communication throughout the project. You will also ensure that all deliverables are aligned with client voice & tone, brand standards, and CMS requirements, and that final content meets established quality standards before deployment. You will develop and execute comprehensive content plans and delegate associated tasks.Beyond orchestration, you’ll act as a consulting partner—structuring work to support client objectives, maintaining an outcome-based plan, and adjusting course as we learn.

Please Note: OHO is building a network of experienced contractors for upcoming large-scale content initiatives. While specific projects are not yet confirmed and start dates are to be determined, we are actively seeking to identify and secure talented professionals now. Selected candidates will be contacted as projects are scheduled. The hourly rate for this contract position typically pays between $75-$80/hour.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the content project lifecycle—from kickoff to launch—and serve as primary client contact. 
  • Set clear expectations for client responsibilities, communicate deadlines, and ensure timely feedback loops.
  • Build the strategic plan for content prioritization, confirm deadlines with the client and maintain all plans and timelines while managing scope change and risks. 
  • Identify and resolve challenges related to content quality, client responsiveness, and process bottlenecks.
  • Ensure content deliverables align with client voice & tone, brand pillars, messaging architecture, style and language, content ecosystem mapping and align with client CMS templates. 
  • Collaborate with client subject matter experts.
  • Organize workshops with clients on a variety of content topics and best practices and train client writers.
  • Provide content governance support to the client.
  • Oversee team effort to enter content into client CMS.
  • Lead or oversee website copywriting or overall content development workflow for clients. 
  • Coordinate teams; run efficient meetings with clear agendas and follow-ups.
  • Produce weekly client status reports.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities strategically to team members.
  • Prioritize project tasks and deliverables efficiently.
  • Track, address, and report on project issues. 
  • Maintain an outcome-based backlog; flag work that doesn’t advance outcomes and propose de-scopes/reshapes.
  • “Challenge with intent” using benchmarks, case examples, or light data.
  • Provide client recaps: what we learned, what changed, what we recommend next, and why.
  • Update plans/estimates as new information emerges; communicate changes early.

Requirements

  • 5+ years leading web content strategy, ideally for client-facing projects.
  • Experience leading large content projects; familiarity with Content Management Systems.
  • Able to facilitate workshops and group sessions for both client and internal teams.
  • Able to determine relevant solutions for client needs by maintaining a current. understanding of content strategy best practices and approaches.
  • Big picture thinker who is also capable of laying out clear, detailed tactics.
  • Experience with content-intensive websites with multiple layers of stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and attention to detail.
  • Active listening and strategic questioning to uncover true needs and constraints.
  • Synthesis: turning inputs into crisp insights, options, and next steps.
  • Business/outcome orientation—solutions tied to goals, not just deliverables.
  • Comfort with ambiguity; humility to update plans based on evidence.
  • Ability to “challenge with intent” and present trade-offs diplomatically.
  • Higher ed experience is a plus but not required.
